The Value of Professional Development
Did you know that the month of October is National Learning and Professional Development Month? During this month dozens of workplace environments focus on the importance of lifelong learning and professional skill building in general. During this time our focus is on encouraging individuals of all ages to learn and develop new skills. We promote curiosity, problem solving and creativity in both our personal and professional lives. We make an investment in career growth by attending conferences, workshops or even on-line training. And most of all, we emphasize that education and skill building are critical for human progress.
Although opportunities exist all year long for early childhood professionals, it seems that October is a great time to host a PD training event with specialty trainer, David Kisor and Growing Sound with support resources from Growing Sound Play and Learn. This month we hosted a training with Fayette County First 5 Program in Lexington, KY and also participated in the 4C for Children conference in Cincinnati, OH. David Kisor presented a keynote and multiple workshops at these events on how to use music and songs to build positive social-emotional development. Attendees love to sing and dance at these events, learn the research that supports each song and discover creative ways to implement this learning both in the classroom or in a home environment. Some of the topics include:
· The Seeds of Happy Healthy Living (with a focus on Character Strengths)
· I’m Gonna Find a Way (with a focus on Adverse Childhood Experiences)
· Peace In the Classroom, Peace in My Heart (with a focus on Mindfulness)
· Sing, Move, Grow and Know (with a focus on child-development birth-age 5)
In addition to Keynotes and PD Training, David also offers interactive sing-a-long concerts for schools, family engagement events and even fun (out of the box) corporate training events. And to top it off…we can even bring our books, toys and gifts for a fun-raising giveback initiative.
Our calendar is already open for 2026! Contact us for more information for a PD organization event. Our training events are OCCRRA approved in Ohio, and David Kisor is a registered KY-TRIS Specialty Trainer in the state of KY. But we also present workshops nationwide! Or maybe we will see you at 2026 Cincinnati Montessori Society Conference or OHAEYC Conference. Have keyboard…will travel!

Of course, if you ever want to drop us a note you can do so via email, or through our contact page. We welcome your feedback, comments, collaborations, and encouragement. info@gsplayandlearn.com
