Where Do We Go from Here?

Just as I am writing this, people in CA are experiencing the worst fires that state has ever endured. Although I am 2,167 miles away, my heart breaks for them. Southern Appalachians, and those in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and other southern states are still recovering from devastating hurricanes, floods, tornados and other natural disasters that occurred in 2024. Even my little area of KY has been affected by a new year snowstorm (although just 10 inches) that has had consequences of inconvenience. It’s only mid-January and already I hear “Where Do We Go from Here?” “Will we ever make it through this?” “How will we go on?”

January always leads us into the New Year with fresh insight. Lots of people set goals, resolutions, and objectives. They set a course for new aspirations, purposes and plans. And then comes a disruption. Some minor, some major.  Could be the death of a loved one, a sudden illness, loss of a business, a job, or property. It could be one of a million things. Before you know it, all hope is lost.

I’m not sure how many people will ever read this blog post. But if it is even just one…I tell you, DO NOT LOSE HOPE. You are stronger than you think. There will be better days ahead. You are not alone. Others can help you through it. Even small steps are progress. Resilience and perseverance are available to EVERYONE!

Even though we are just a little online toy store, we stand committed to carrying products that help young children develop positive social-emotional skills that will help them to become ready for school and ready for life. It may look just like a puzzle, an art project, or a game-but the internal impact offers so much to their growth and development.  It is not always visible, but the effects are viable. And one day, when that child is faced with the question “Where Do We Go from Here?” they will have the spatial awareness, critical thinking, problem solving and basic communication skills to assess the current situation and consider potential options. Yes…Toys matter. Play matters. Learning matters. And we’ll do our best to continue to bring it to you.

So, Where Do We Go from Here? Forward my friends. Forward. One step at a time with hope in our hearts.

Our website closed for a break on 12/24/24. We will reopen for orders on 1/25/25. We look forward to introducing you to another year of great products that allow young children to both play and learn.

Of course, if you ever want to drop us a note you can do so via email, or through our contact page. We welcome your feedback, comments, collaborations, and encouragement. info@gsplayandlearn.com
